Haneen means ‘longing’ or ‘nostalgia’ in Arabic. Transform the ambience of your home with a jasmine and laurel candle that represents, the “best of” Syria’s art and culture. Designed by Syrian artists, with essential oils sourced from Syria, and inspired by the words of Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani, one of the most revered contemporary poets in the Arab world.
WHY WE LOVE IT
This all natural coconut and soy wax melts to release a sumptuous fragrance of Damascus jasmine and laurel leaf. The laurel oil, known as ‘Ghar’ in Arabic is considered to be Syria's green gold and used to make the famous Aleppo Soap. Additionally, each mosaic lid is made from eucalyptus, lemon, rose and walnut wood, handcrafted by local artisans from the Mohammad AlKhayat studio in Damascus. Designed by Arabic calligraphy artist Kinda Hibrawi, the candle includes a poem insert art card with custom Arabic calligraphy and English translation. A welcome addition to any home and will also make a wonderful gift for a special occasion.
We are grateful for the generosity of spirit the Qabbani family demonstrated, by granting Mint + Laurel the rights, to use his moving poetry. His poetic legacy and passion for Syrian beauty lives through our products.
